Now that we’ve discovered cheaper airfares and my mom’s willing to fly new airlines, there are more ways we can take random short trips during long weekends. The last two I’ve taken were both to Taipei – while I loved spending time with my family on the second one, the first time was the highlight, where I got to try Cathay Pacific’s new A350.

Well, now there’s a new way I really want to get to Taipei in.
As of October 30th, 2016, China Airlines has just started flying their inaugural A350 to Hong Kong. The aircraft is in a three-cabin configuration, with 32 business class seats, 31 premium economy seats, and 243 economy class seats.
Initially, I thought the product looked pretty drab, but from the photos alone it’s growing on me quicker than crap rapper Honey G grew on the X Factor judges.

What is my dream itinerary?
Another plane I’ve really wanted to try is the China Airlines 777-300ER, which also seems to have a really solid business class product.

Given that China Airlines now flies both aircraft to Hong Kong, I can now piece them together on an itinerary for ~HK$3,200 per person. While that’s more than what I’d like Mom to pay for a two-hour flight, I’m hoping she’ll find some worth out of it somehow.
I’ve been poking at long weekends with these fares and currently the times look good too!
Bottom Line
I can’t wait to get on one of these China Airlines aircraft, either by this way or by some completely different method. This is now up on the list of airline products I want to try the most, along with Hong Kong Airlines.
