Review: The Ritz-Carlton Haikou

Booking The Hotel

My father and I decided to take a trip to Haikou to play some golf, so we started looking for hotels. Seeing that there was a brand new Ritz-Carlton in Haikou’s Mission Hills golfing complex, we found a nice package that included buffet breakfast for two people as well as a one-way car transfer on their website and decided to bit the bullet. Overall, the stay cost CNY2342, which I’d say is actually a half decent deal.

Marriott and Starwood Tie the Knot…Any Guest Writers Want To Help Me Cover This?

I’ve been pretty busy working the past few days, but that doesn’t take me way out of the world. I’ve been observing Starwood and Marriott’s merger the past few days, and I’m sure all of you readers have as well.

So I guess it would be nice to nail in the hammer and make sure y’all know that Marriott and Starwood have tied the knot on September 23rd, 2016.

Review: Marriott Associa Nagoya

We had taken the Nagoya Airport Express out from Centrair in Chubu to the main station in Nagoya, to reach the Marriott. When we arrived, the welcome wasn’t exactly warm with no staff members staffing the entrance at the bottom. I wasn’t especially impressed with the welcome that we had received. This was, at the end of the day, one of the best hotels in Nagoya.

Review: JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul

After a short train ride on the Korea Train Express, my family and I headed off to the JW Marriott. The hotel is smack dab in the middle of Dongdaemun, with a huge shopping mall right next to it, and it just opened its doors last year, so I had high hopes.

The exterior of the hotel looks rather modern, and reminded me of a mosaic. Correct me if I’m wrong, but with the white colour tones they used, after a few years it’s likely that the hotel’d look drab really soon.

Bad Apples in Hotel Chains?

Shangri-La is regarded as an international hotel brand and has some gorgeous properties around the world including the Shangri-La Villingili Island, Shangri-La The Shard and Shangri-La Paris. However, they have some less than stellar properties in China…

Take a look at Golden Flower Xi’an by Shangri-La which is one of their two properties in Xi’an (the other being the actual Shangri-La).

It’s not terrible. However, compare that even with The Shangri-La Guilin, which is considered to be a middle of the road property…
