ACT FAST: Hong Kong to North America from ~HK$2250

ACT QUICKLY! Cathay Pacific has recently published a limited fare sale for flights from Hong Kong to San Francisco and Los Angeles, with fares starting at HKD2250 in Economy Class. The offer ends in four days, so be sure to hurry!

As is the case with any fare sale, there are some conditions. The departure period for your trip must be from the 1st of March, 2018 to the 20th of June, 2018. There is a maximum stay period of one month.

Even within that timeframe, I’m only seeing the cheap fares available for select dates, so you’ve got to be really flexible with your travel plans if you want to take advantage of this fare. Here is the “fare grid” for some random dates that I put into Cathay’s booking system for flights from Hong Kong to Los Angeles.

The fares are under the fare class “O”, and are classified as “Economy Supersaver” tickets, which come with the following conditions:

  • No advanced seat selection if you are not a Silver Marco Polo Member or above
  • Rebooking not permitted at all
  • No Asia Miles and Club Points accrual
  • No refund allowed in the event of cancellation before departure, or after departure
  • No refund in the event of no-show

Basically, you’ve got to be 100% sure that you’re going to be taking this trip. If you’re not a Marco Polo member, you’ve also got a pretty big chance of ending up in a middle seat, or if you’re traveling in a group, you are likely not going to be able to sit together. Don’t book this fare if you want to top-up your Asia Miles or Marco Polo Club points balance either because you won’t get any.

Bottom Line

If you want to take advantage of this fare, you’ve got to be very flexible with your travel plans, and also be able to confirm that you’re going to be taking this trip. Obviously, the fare conditions are designed so that as little people as possible can take advantage of this amazing fare. Good luck!
