As I mentioned a few days ago, Korean Air gave us a surprise Boeing 747-8i on the last leg of our journey.

Obviously I was really stoked about flying a new aircraft, especially up top on the upper deck in business class – Singapore Airlines’ A380 has really been the most exciting thing I’ve flown to date, aircraft wise (partly because of my A330-300 journey – consecutive flights 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11), and I was in economy.

By the time I broke the streak last April (almost a year after the first flight in the streak), I was happy to get on the upper deck of a 747 – scrap that, you should always be happy to get on the upper deck of a 747. But I was more excited about that flight than the previous flight in fully flat seats, which was really weird.

So, back to my point – I was excited to be on a 747-8i.

Obviously, on such a new aircraft, I decided I would be taking a few more pictures of my cabin as necessary. I personally think that business class seats can be more varied, and thus make for better reviews compared to economy class, which is why I always go out of my way to find cheap business class fares. But then, business class comes with high prices, and my family doesn’t love flying as much as I do, so I decided to pick the best seat where they could rest and I could just trickle out and take pictures.

Thanks, Korean! I mean, of course I’d pick a center seat when virtually all seats (apart from row 18 and row 19) are open.

I wasn’t convinced, so I kept pushing (yes, of course I owed them an apology at the end):

Thank God for that! To get a row, I had to slowly narrow it down to three rows, then down to two, then down to one. I’m amazed.

Well, in return they had me follow @SkyTeam, and decided to send me a notepad for a “loyal customer token”…yay, thanks Korean! This shows how a little bit of hospitality definitely goes a long way.

Has anyone bugged an airline this far to get the best seat?

And by the way, SkyTeam has opened a new lounge at Hong Kong that I will have access to (replaces the rather sad KAL Lounge they used to have). Has anyone visited, and how was it?
