For next February, most of you know that I booked Korean Air business class from Hong Kong to Vancouver. All my travel originates in Hong Kong, so it’s awesome that we can finally transit as a family.
Up until now, I’ve been rather skeptical about being in an angled flat seat for 30 hours. While I can definitely stand that (hell, 80% of my travel before this blog has been in economy), my parents have been through quite a few round birthdays and I wasn’t ready to have them half upright for a day.
Korean Air Boeing 747-400 Business Class Cabin
Well, up until now, because that’s about to change!
Back in August, Korean Air made a post saying that from November, Korean Air would be running the Boeing 747-8i on the KE 607/8 route.

Clearly I missed that, because I didn’t see that until this morning – and that’s on our last leg from Seoul Incheon!

Obviously, that leaves roughly 25.5 hours in angled flat business class, which I wasn’t really so happy with.
I’ve flown both types of Korean Air international business class that they operated back in April.
KOREAN AIR’S PRESTIGE SLEEPER SEAT
Korean Air’s Prestige Sleeper seat was featured on the Airbus A330-300 that I flew to Seoul Incheon from Hong Kong.

Apart from being fully flat, the seat is also polished in any possible way. It has two USB power ports, an awesome reading light, enough buttons to fly a 747 and is overall a well-rounded seat that I really enjoyed flying.
KOREAN AIR’S PRESTIGE PLUS SEAT
Korean Air’s Prestige Plus seat was featured on my return flight from Seoul Incheon back home to Hong Kong.

This seat is almost everything the new one isn’t. It’s kind of still comfortable, but apart from that the shoe cubbies are tacky, the seat isn’t flat, and adjusting the reading light feels like you’re giving someone a hand job. Ick!
My four flights were in two Boeing 747-400s (HKG – ICN – HKG) and two Boeing 777-200ERs (ICN – YVR – ICN), and the e-ticket mentioned that the seats were “Prestige Plus” (an e-ticket that includes the seat type – holy sh*t!).
But I had a look at the e-ticket today, and saw that along with my first leg changing to a Boeing 777-200ER, all seats had been changed to “Prestige Sleeper”.
I got confirmation from Korean Air – I wasn’t wrong!
Now all I have to do is cross my fingers and hope that there aren’t going to be any more changes, because I’m really happy with this. I can’t wait to report the 747-8i back to y’all in February!
I do lose my pride for flying the same route on the same aircraft in the same seat twice within a year, though… :/
