Hello again from London! It’s been a short rest after a long, 31-hour day, and having topped my longest flight in an award-winning business class product, I’m excited to share my thoughts.
As expected, the product was super comfortable for a business class product. But did it blow me away?

Cathay Pacific has two cabins on its no-first class Boeing 777-300ER, with seven rows in the forward cabin and four in the rear. I couldn’t grab myself a row of four in the rear seats, so our family grabbed the frontmost seats, 11A, D, G and K.

I was assigned seat 12A, but joined my family in the first row in seat 11K, arguably one of the most private seats on the plane.

The seat controls are straightforward, intuitive but lack any sort of massage function, though a flat bed’s fine. Also featured is a reading light and a 110V power port, as well as a USB port.

The bed was more than long enough for me, and most like 90% other business travellers around.

The tray table is quite big and was sturdy for my flight.

I found the seat comfortable for sleeping, really comfortable for sitting down and was well designed enough to accomodate all I needed.

I’ve had good food on Cathay Pacific, and apparently it was going downhill these days. I disagree, as the food was still pretty damn good.
I had a proscuitto mixed salad, roasted salmon and a tart for the first meal. The proscuitto was contrasting, the salmon was moist and the tart was perfect and dainty.

I had a fruit salad, a baked halibut and a lemon and almond tart for dinner. The fruit salad was a little too simple and not really that “fitting” for a business class appetizer, the halibut was slightly overcooked with a sauce that tasted slightly weird and the tart wasn’t as memorable as the raspberry tart I had for lunch and had a weird pear chutney by the side that smelled pretty bad.

I had a burger for my snack, which was a highlight.

Admittedly it’s a minor point, but as the lavatories were installed before Cathay Pacific decided not to install first class on selected fleet, the first class lavatory is open to business class on the left side, which means it features a real sink.

The service on the flight was more of a miss (I’ve learnt over years of flying Cathay Pacific that service is always pretty great). The purser and half the crew were really efficient and smiled, while the other half were unattentive, slow and took long to figure things out. When I wanted my burger taken away, the crew walked past and ignored me five times so I took matters in my own hands and put my tray in the galley.
I do appreciate the way the crew handled emergencies. On our flight, the crew required medical persona, so my parents sent themselves, as doctors, to help. A girl back in 20A was having some sort of complex stomach infection, and the crew was helping her, following my dad’s instructions and making sure she was alright. (Her mom looked on with no sort of sympathy, contribution or worry whatsoever – God bless China.)
Bottom line on Cathay Pacific Boeing 777-300ER Business Class
The seat was comfortable, the service was acceptable and the food was good. Was that the mark of a top business class product? Yes.
But have I had better flights overall this year? Yes.
