Hello from home! A few days ago I reported on flying Korean Air’s Airbus A330 business class, and I’m fresh off the return flight, on a 747. Rather than doing a back to back comparison, I decided to write about the experience first, then compare the products with the trip report.
I wasn’t blown away with the product, but confirmed that the service I got on my last flight wasn’t just a fluke, but the norm.
Korean Air 747 Business Class Seat
Korean Air has business class seats on the lower and upper deck of the 747. The lower deck features standard angled lie flat seats in a 2-3-2 configuration.

The upper deck, which we were situated in, features angle lie flats in a 2-2 configuration (as is the norm).

I definitely prefer the upper deck, as it’s a much quieter, intimate cabin, and with economy right behind and seven across seats (thus you being climbing over or climbed over), it’s unlikely you’ll get any sleep down there on the lower deck.

The seats recline into a true angled lie flat bed, which isn’t, to be honest, that comfortable, but is more than enough for a short four hour flight.

I had much higher expectations going in since the outbound had such great catering, but my expectations were again exceeded. All four courses were basically perfect, and my steak was cooked to my preferred temperature (perfectly), which I was not expecting!

The bathrooms on the 747 feature premium Jurlique amenities. I liked the flushing option, which was used with a lever instead of a button, and the tap, which had hot and cold levers instead of buttons, and what came out was actually cold water and not steaming hot water.

As aforementioned, the service I got on the outbound was not a fluke. The cabin crew were efficient, friendly and engaged in small talk and introduced themselves, and it really felt like a first class experience.

I also signed up for Korean Air SkyPass tonight. Can’t wait to fly more of them!
Bottom line on Korean Air 747 Business Class
I’ll admit upfront that the hard product this time fell slightly short, though it’s way more than enough for a sub-four hour flight. The service impressed me a lot and the soft product overall was pretty damn amazing, especially for the price we got.
I don’t know if it’s my last time upfront in Korean Air, but it’s definitely not my last time on Korean Air.
